I think one of the best ways to grow your creativity as an interior designer is to design something out of your usual comfort zone. I was given the opportunity to work with a local client on her new daughter’s bedroom and this was SO MUCH FUN! The floral prints, pops of color, and textures all came together perfectly. I created three different designs for her, all taking into consideration that she wanted this bedroom to “grow” with her daughter over time, so she can keep most of the staple pieces way into her teen years.
Take a look at each of the designs below! I’ve since worked with the client and we have narrowed down the final look for her bedroom and I can’t wait to share with you in a couple of weeks when it is all complete!

One of my favorite wallpaper vendors is Spoonflower, and they did not disappoint with the hundreds of new floral prints to choose from. I picked three different options, all with a different central color to piece together each design board.

When designing a bedroom that you want to be able to grow with your child, you really want to take into consideration spending a bit more money on the bigger staple pieces – the bed, dresser, desk, etc. Making sure that the quality can last more than just a year or two. Things like rugs, bedding, lighting, seating areas, accessories can easily be changed over time to reflect their new interests.
